Week of September 12 - Fairway Seeding

Hoses have been traded for seeding equipment and the first round of seeding has been completed on all fairways. The second round of seeding will beginning on Monday, Sept. 19th for areas that need a little more TLC. Unfortunately, we are still limited to using our greens equipment (aerator and seeder) as the recently purchased fairway seeder delivery has been delayed. Hopefully we will have the seeder by early October.


The seeding process begins with aerating in two directions with our greens aerator at a shallow setting to ensure we do not drop the seed too deep. The plugs are then picked up or dragged depending on the area. Then the area is topdressed with a 60/40 sand loam mix that contains a good deal of compost. Lastly, our greens seeder is taken across these areas in multiple directions. Between each step in the process we drag and add additional bentgrass seed.
