The course received a couple inches of snowfall over the last week. However, with some warm afternoon days that snow has largely melted away already. These periods of heavy snowmelt are a good opportunity for us to check the exit points of the courses drainage pipes to make sure they are flowing properly. Sometimes they can become backed up with debris or damaged due to animal or tree root activity. Improper drainage can lead to a multitude of potential problems, for example the pooling of water in the 18th fairway bunker last year. With the ground still mostly frozen, our fairway and greens drains performing well and evacuating water will help to ensure minimal ice coverage when things decide to refreeze.
We have continued working on brush and small tree removal on the right side of 4. We hope to improve the playability of this area and the condition of the rough approaching the fairway bunkers. We will be renting a chipper soon if the weather allows for this area and the other spots where we have staged brush and trees. Next week we hope to have Mayer Tree in to start on the removals on the 3rd hole as well as the storm damage clean up.
We have also continued work on inside projects including our recertification through the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf. We owe a big thank you to John and Catherine Randall for helping to supplement our supply of bird houses! We will be installing more of these on the course for this spring as well as refurbishing some of the existing houses already installed on the property.

Near flood conditions on the now exposed creek on the 8th hole!
