Aeration Update: Weather Delay and Course availability for Thursday 8/21

Ipswich will open for play on the Front 9 only tomorrow with the back 9 remaining closed for the completion of greens aeration. The driving range, practice greens, and short game will also be open. The first tee time will be 8am.
Aeration Update:
On Tuesday, the front nine greens were aerated. This process took longer than we wanted due to the cloudy conditions delaying the topdressing sand from drying. A crucial part of the greens aeration process is the incorporation of topdressing sand into the green. Basically we punch a lot of holes into the green and then fill them with the topdressing sand. Getting that sand into the holes is accomplished largely through the use of a cart pulled drag brush and finally by crew members using hand brooms. Dry sand is required for this process to work effectively. Dragging wet sand simply smears the sand along the surface of the green and over the top of the aeration holes rather than filling them. It is also extremely rough and causes damage to the greens surface. The rainy conditions today will prevent us from completing aeration to the back 9 greens as originally planned. Thus unfortunately we will need to use the third "rain day" of aeration and keep the back 9 greens closed Thursday. Below are some pictures from aeration this week.
